Welcome to East End Tonic Botanicals
Make Your Own Botanical Quinine Tonic Syrup
The idea behind our tonic kit was to introduce G/T imbibers to a premium botanical quinine tonic syrup by not just offering a ready made tonic syrup in a bottle or diluted tonic water, but to involve you, the adventurous mixologist, in the process of creating the tonic yourself. Our Botanical Tonic Syrup Kit will produce a quinine tonic syrup unique to you, It is cost effective (makes 1 liter), can be made anytime based on the your need or demand, the kit uses the highest quality of responsibly sourced ingredients, it has a longer shelf life and can be more reasonably shipped to a wider consumer base (glass bottles full of liquid are cost prohibitive to ship to far places). This kit makes a great gift for amateur mixologists and home chefs. Cheers!
We source only certified organic & pesticide-free plant products that are sustainably harvested.
Made with True Cinchona Bark (Quinine) | Organic Botanicals and Spices
Our Tonic is made with organic botanicals sourced from Mountain Rose Herbs, a company who since 1987 has been sourcing certified organic or pesticide-free plant products that are sustainably harvested. The № 27 Tonic stands out from most other Tonics available today by combining a carefully selected mix of barks and spices from different regions of the world while staying true to the original quinine tonic taste.
Our mix contains wild harvested Cinchona Bark (Cinchona succirubra) from South Amercica, Pau D' Arco Bark (Tabebuia impetiginosa) and Kola Nut (Cola nitida) from Brazil, Sweet Cinnamon “true cinnamon” (Cinnamomum verum) from Sri Lanka, Cardamom Pods (Elettaria cardamomum) from Guatemala and Schisandra Berries (Schisandra chinensis) from China. Schisandra Berries is one of the 50 fundamental herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is said to contain all five basic flavors: salty, sweet, sour, pungent, and bitter. Our botanical mix is truly unmatched in quality and freshness, responsibly sourced from all over the world.
Two versions of our № 27 botanical kit….
Organic Cane Sugar
We use Organic Cane Sugar, made from certified organic sugar cane grown in South America. The cane juice, rich in molasses, vitamins and minerals, is extracted from fresh sugar cane, evaporated and crystallized all on the same day it is harvested. The result is a blonde-colored, naturally gluten free, perfectly sweet natural sugar that will enhance your tonic syrup mix in both alcoholic or non-alcoholic tonic drinks.
Monk Fruit Sugar - ZERO Calorie | ZERO Glycemic index
We use Lakanto’s Monk Fruit Sweetener in place of sugar (fructose) to produce a truly unique no calories botanical Tonic. Lakanto grows and processes monk fruit in a way that is sustainable, including having a zero-emissions processing plant. Learn more about Monk fruit's herbal properties and health benefits on Lakanto's website.
Monk fruit?
Monk fruit is a small round fruit in the gourd family, also known as Luo Han Guo, named after the Luo Han monks who discovered it over 1000 years ago in the remote highlands of China. It was considered a sacred fruit and was prized for its sweetness. Many thought the fruit to be the secret to longevity and earned the name “the immortals’ fruit.”
Monk Fruit’s sweetness comes from mogrosides, which the body registers as an herb instead of a sugar. Monk Fruit extract does not elevate blood sugar levels or insulin, making it the perfect Tonic to sip on for people who are managing their blood sugars and weight.
Note on Monk fruit syrup storage - Monk fruit sugar has a high tendency to crystalize in syrups under cooler temperatures. Lakanto (Monk fruit supplier) has verified that crystallization is a characteristic of Monk fruit sugar in liquids and syrups - the Erythritol in the Lakanto sweetener will crystallize under cool temperatures. If you do make the tonic with Monk fruit, we recommend freezing the the syrup in silicon ice cube trays and use as needed.
